The MikroTik RB5009UPr+S+IN is the PoE-out variant of MikroTik's RB5009 platform — the same quad-core ARM64 88F7040 routing engine now paired with 802.3af/at PoE-out on all 8 Ethernet ports, a 130W total PoE-out budget, and 10 independent power input paths for maximum power supply redundancy at USD 299.00. It is the correct choice for a small or medium ISP deploying outdoor wireless APs, IP cameras, or PoE switches that need a single router-plus-PoE-injector unit rather than a separate router and PoE switch.

**88F7040 + 88E6393 — ARM64 routing with dedicated switch chip**

The Marvell 88F7040 ARMADA 7040 is a quad-core ARM64 Cortex-A72 at up to 1.4 GHz — substantially more powerful than the dual-core ARM64 CPUs in the hAP ax² and CSS family. The 88E6393 is Marvell's dedicated Gigabit switch ASIC handling all Layer 2 switching in hardware independently of the routing CPU — VLAN, MAC forwarding, and hardware ACL all offloaded from the 88F7040. At 1 GB RAM and 1 GB NAND (the largest onboard storage in any device in this session), the RB5009UPr+S+IN has substantial headroom for RouterOS containers, complex scripting, large firewall rulesets, RADIUS server instances, and BGP routing tables simultaneously.

**10 power inputs — the priority-based fallback architecture**

The RB5009UPr+S+IN has 10 independent power input paths: DC jack (24–57V), 2-pin terminal (24–57V), 802.3af/at PoE-in on Ether1, and reverse Mode B PoE-in on Ether2–Ether8 (7 ports). All inputs share the same 24–57V voltage range but cannot be mixed simultaneously. The router's internal power arbitration always selects the highest available input voltage to power the board and PoE-out devices. On primary source failure, it falls back to the next highest voltage input — automatically, without any configuration. MikroTik's own framing: "dual redundant power supplies would usually take your uptime to the next level — RB5009UPr+S+IN takes it one step above that." The router always reserves 20W for its own operation; if total PoE-out load exceeds available budget, lower-priority ports are disabled first (priority is user-configurable per port).

**130W PoE-out across 8 ports — 25W per port max**

All 8 Ethernet ports (Ether1–Ether8) provide 802.3af/at PoE-out at up to 25W per port, capped at 130W total across all ports. Current limits: 900 mA per port at low voltage, 440 mA at high voltage. Practical PoE-out deployment scenarios within the 130W budget:

- **8× 802.3af APs or cameras (15.4W each):** 123W total — within budget.

- **5× 802.3at APs (25W each):** 125W total — within budget.

- **8× 802.3at devices (25W each):** 200W total — exceeds budget; 5 ports at full draw is the practical ceiling.

MikroTik explicitly benchmarks the RB5009UPr+S+IN's PoE capability against the CRS354 and CRS328 PoE switches: "it can trade blows with our legendary PoE switches in the smallest possible form-factor and for the best price on the market."

**4× units in 1U — the density argument**

The RB5009UPr+S+IN's compact form factor allows four units to be rack-mounted side by side in a single 1U space via the optional K-79 rackmount kit. Four units provide 32 PoE-out ports, 4× SFP+ 10G uplinks, and 520W combined PoE-out budget in 1U — at USD 299.00 per unit, USD 1,196.00 for 4× units versus a comparable enterprise PoE router solution.

**RouterOS v7 License 5 — full ISP and SMB feature set**

License 5 provides unlimited BGP and OSPF instances — directly relevant for a small or medium ISP running BGP peering sessions on the RB5009UPr+S+IN as an edge router. WireGuard, IPsec, hotspot gateway, CAPsMAN CAP, VLAN, scripting, SNMP, and ARM64 container support are all available at License 5 with 1 GB RAM headroom.

**5-year software support guarantee:** RouterOS v7 updates free for life of product or minimum 5 years from date of purchase.

**Canadian market note:** CE, EAC, RoHS only — no FCC, no IC (ISED) published. Wired router, no wireless transmitter — no ISED wireless advisory applies. Confirm CSA/cUL electrical safety requirements with distributor before listing.

General information

All students who attend the Training can receive a free L4 license from MikroTik. Training should be at least three days long.

Students are allowed to take the certification test ONLY upon the attendance of individual training course, in the class, under the supervision of a MikroTik Certified Training Partner.

Each certification test consists of a pre-defined % of random questions (multiple choice and true/false) from specific question categories. Items also have a difficulty parameter. MTCNA test is generated from more straightforward questions, Advanced tests – from more difficult questions.

Only one attempt is allowed. The test must be finished within one hour. The passing grade is set to 60%. There are 25 questions in the exam.

Certificate numbers and RouterOS L4 licenses are assigned automatically by MikroTik. Students can see their certificates and generate license keys once logged into the account server. Printed documents from MikroTik cost USD 30 per piece. Shipping is not included.

Remote training sessions and certification exams are not allowed.

MikroTik Certification Test without prior attendance of particular MikroTik Training Session is not allowed.

Wireless Netware offers every participant a free RouterBOARD hAP-ac-lite.

The price includes class attendance, course materials, coffee breaks and lunch, "Only for local Training." The amount does not cover travel and accommodation expenses.

Please bring (very important): Laptop, power extension strip (10ft./3m) with five sockets, one long Ethernet cable (16ft./5m+) and several short Ethernet cables.

Cost: Early bird price for the course is $850. It is valid 15 days before the scheduled session, referring to the MikroTik Training website. The price will be $1050 after the early bird date. The price includes class attendance, course materials, coffee breaks and lunch," Only for local Training." The amount does not cover travel and accommodation expenses.
