The MikroTik CCR2004-16G-2S+PC is the fanless variant of the CCR2004-16G-2S+PC — identical routing hardware to the CCR2004 series, with the fans replaced by passive thermal management for completely silent operation at USD 465.00. It is the correct choice when router performance equivalent to the previous-generation CCR1009 is required without fan noise — in an office, studio, homelab, or server room where acoustic environment matters.

**AL32400 Alpine v2 — quad-core ARM64 Cortex-A57 at 1.2 GHz**

The Amazon Annapurna Labs AL32400 is a quad-core ARM64 Cortex-A57 at 1.2 GHz — the same CPU family used across the CCR2004 series. MikroTik benchmarks the CCR2004-16G-2S+PC at up to 300% faster than the previous-generation CCR1009 routers at the same routing tasks — routing, firewall, NAT, WireGuard VPN, IPsec, and BGP table processing. With 4 GB DDR4 RAM — the largest RAM in any device in this session, four times the RB5009UPr+S+IN's 1 GB — the CCR2004-16G-2S+PC has headroom for large BGP full routing tables (approximately 900,000+ IPv4 routes in a full internet BGP feed), extensive firewall rulesets, WireGuard tunnels, and RouterOS container workloads simultaneously.

**Dual Marvell 88E6191 switch chips — no internal bottleneck**

The 16 Gigabit Ethernet ports are divided into two independent groups of 8, each connected to a dedicated Marvell 88E6191 Amethyst family switch chip. Each switch chip has its own dedicated 10 Gbps full-duplex line to the AL32400 CPU — and each SFP+ cage also has a separate dedicated 10 Gbps full-duplex line to the CPU. MikroTik's own framing: "no bottlenecks — as long as the CPU can handle the processing, all ports can reach wire speed." In practice, traffic between ports within the same 8-port group is hardware-switched by the 88E6191 at line rate without CPU involvement. Inter-group and routed traffic passes through the CPU's four ARM64 cores.

**Passive cooling — completely silent operation**

The "PC" suffix denotes Passive Cooling — no fans, no moving parts, zero acoustic output. The CCR2004-16G-2S+PC dissipates its 36W max thermal load (30W without attachments) through the enclosure heatsink alone. MikroTik's marketing for this device is direct: "the silent powerhouse — enjoy all the power of a real CCR in peace and quiet — get rid of all the hum and buzz in your office, studio, server room or homelab without sacrificing the performance." The operating temperature range (-20°C to +60°C) reflects the passive cooling constraint — slightly narrower than the RB5009UPr+S+IN's -40°C to +60°C. For deployment in a temperature-controlled server room, office, or homelab, the -20°C to +60°C range presents no operational limitation.

**RouterOS v7 License 6 — full enterprise routing feature set**

License 6 provides unlimited BGP peers, OSPF areas, and VRF instances — directly relevant for the CCR2004-16G-2S+PC's primary use case as a silent BGP edge router or core router for a small or medium ISP, enterprise, or advanced homelab. WireGuard, IPsec, hotspot gateway, CAPsMAN controller, VLAN, scripting, SNMP, and ARM64 container support are all available at License 6 with 4 GB DDR4 RAM providing substantial container and workload headroom.

**SMB and ISP deployment architecture**

MikroTik's own recommended deployment: "Gigabit Ethernet ports for the internal network; SFP+ ports for downlink and uplink — the perfect all-in-one solution for small and medium-sized businesses." In practice: Ether1 as WAN (or SFP+ for 10G ISP handoff), Ether2–16 as LAN switch ports across two independent 88E6191 switch domains, SFP+ ports for 10G uplinks to CRS510, CRS518, or upstream provider equipment.

**5-year software support guarantee:** RouterOS v7 updates free for life of product or minimum 5 years from date of purchase.

**Canadian market note:** CE, EAC, RoHS only — no FCC, no IC (ISED) published. Wired router, no wireless transmitter — no ISED wireless advisory applies. Confirm CSA/cUL electrical safety requirements with distributor before listing, particularly given the DC jack 36–57V input range.

General information

All students who attend the Training can receive a free L4 license from MikroTik. Training should be at least three days long.

Students are allowed to take the certification test ONLY upon the attendance of individual training course, in the class, under the supervision of a MikroTik Certified Training Partner.

Each certification test consists of a pre-defined % of random questions (multiple choice and true/false) from specific question categories. Items also have a difficulty parameter. MTCNA test is generated from more straightforward questions, Advanced tests – from more difficult questions.

Only one attempt is allowed. The test must be finished within one hour. The passing grade is set to 60%. There are 25 questions in the exam.

Certificate numbers and RouterOS L4 licenses are assigned automatically by MikroTik. Students can see their certificates and generate license keys once logged into the account server. Printed documents from MikroTik cost USD 30 per piece. Shipping is not included.

Remote training sessions and certification exams are not allowed.

MikroTik Certification Test without prior attendance of particular MikroTik Training Session is not allowed.

Wireless Netware offers every participant a free RouterBOARD hAP-ac-lite.

The price includes class attendance, course materials, coffee breaks and lunch, "Only for local Training." The amount does not cover travel and accommodation expenses.

Please bring (very important): Laptop, power extension strip (10ft./3m) with five sockets, one long Ethernet cable (16ft./5m+) and several short Ethernet cables.
