MikroTik XS+85LC01D 25G SFP28 10G SFP+ Multimode LC
The MikroTik XS+85LC01D is a tri-rate 1G/10G/25G multimode optical transceiver — SFP / SFP+ / SFP28 form factor, 850nm VCSEL, dual LC UPC connector, 100m reach on OM3/OM4 multimode fibre, built-in digital diagnostics (optical power, supply voltage, temperature, laser bias current monitoring), -40°C to +85°C tested ambient, MTBF ~100,000 hours at 25°C. No FCC or IC certification published. The correct short-reach multimode transceiver for RB5009, CCR2116, netPower series, CRS, and CSS switches requiring 1G, 10G, or 25G SFP/SFP+/SFP28 connectivity over existing multimode fibre plant at distances up to 100 metres.

The MikroTik XS+85LC01D is a single transceiver that covers three distinct fibre connectivity tiers — 1 Gigabit SFP, 10 Gigabit SFP+, and 25 Gigabit SFP28 — in the same physical module, from the same dual LC UPC connector, over the same multimode fibre plant. The auto-negotiated data rate is determined by the host port: insert the XS+85LC01D into a 1G SFP port and it runs at 1G; insert it into a 10G SFP+ port and it runs at 10G; insert it into a 25G SFP28 port and it runs at 25G. No configuration, no jumpers, no model selection per speed — one transceiver part number covers the full 1G-to-25G multimode migration path.
The tri-rate capability is the primary purchasing argument for network operators who are managing a mixed-speed infrastructure or planning a phased upgrade from 10G to 25G. A data centre or enterprise operator who today has a mix of SFP+ 10G switches and is deploying new SFP28 25G servers or storage arrays can stock a single transceiver SKU — the XS+85LC01D — for both the existing 10G infrastructure and the incoming 25G equipment. No separate 10G SFP+ transceivers and 25G SFP28 transceivers. No risk of receiving the wrong transceiver for a specific port. One part number, three speeds, one multimode fibre cabling standard.
The 850nm VCSEL (vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser) is the standard short-range multimode fibre transmitter for 10GBASE-SR and 25GBASE-SR. 850nm VCSELs are low-cost, low-power, and manufactured at high volume — they are the reason short-reach multimode transceivers cost significantly less than long-reach single-mode transceivers at equivalent data rates. The 100m reach over multimode fibre covers the standard structured cabling run lengths within a data centre — rack-to-rack, ToR (top-of-rack) to end-of-row switch, EoR to core switch — on OM3 or OM4 multimode fibre. For OM3 cable at 25G, the IEEE 802.3cc standard specifies 70m reach; OM4 extends this to 100m. Confirm the fibre grade at the installation site before specifying the XS+85LC01D for runs approaching the 100m maximum.
The digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM) capability is embedded in the module itself — no external equipment required. The XS+85LC01D monitors and reports the following parameters in real time via the SFP/SFP+/SFP28 management interface to the host switch or router:
- **Optical transmit power (dBm):** Monitors laser output level — a declining transmit power reading over time indicates laser degradation before link failure occurs.
- **Optical receive power (dBm):** Monitors received signal strength — a received power reading below the receiver sensitivity threshold indicates a fibre plant issue (dirty connectors, damaged cable, excessive bend radius) before the link drops.
- **Transceiver supply voltage (V):** Monitors the host port's supply voltage to the transceiver — out-of-specification voltage indicates a PoE or power rail issue at the host switch.
- **Laser bias current (mA):** Monitors the laser drive current — an increasing bias current at constant output power indicates laser ageing.
- **Temperature (°C):** Monitors the transceiver's operating temperature — useful for identifying overheating in high-density installations.
All five parameters are readable via RouterOS in MikroTik host devices that support SFP DDM readout — the same DDM interface available on SYNOXX transceivers and other SFP/SFP+/SFP28 modules in this product catalogue. Configurable alarm and warning thresholds allow the host device to alert on abnormal transceiver conditions before they result in link failure — enabling planned maintenance rather than reactive fault response.
The -40°C to +85°C tested ambient temperature range is one of the widest operating temperature ranges in this product batch — the same as MikroTik's most robust outdoor active devices. For a transceiver installed inside a data centre or equipment room chassis, -40°C is irrelevant in practice, but the +85°C upper limit is meaningful for high-density chassis installations where the interior of a fully loaded switch may reach significantly elevated temperatures. The XS+85LC01D's +85°C upper limit provides thermal margin in densely packed switch chassis that generate substantial heat under full port load.
**MikroTik compatibility — confirmed devices:**
The XS+85LC01D is explicitly confirmed compatible with the following MikroTik platforms:
- **RB5009UG+S+IN** — the SFP+ cage accepts 10G SFP+ transceivers including the XS+85LC01D at 10G
- **CCR2116-12G-4S+** — the 4× SFP+ cages accept the XS+85LC01D at 10G
- **netPower series** — confirm specific models from the compatibility list
- **CRS switches** — CRS354-48P-4S+2Q+RM (SFP+ cages at 10G), CRS328-24P-4S+RM (SFP+ cages at 10G), CRS520-4XS-16XQ-RM (SFP28 cages at 25G), and other CRS models with SFP/SFP+/SFP28 ports
- **CSS switches** — CSS318-16G-2S+IN (SFP+ cages at 10G) and other CSS models with SFP+ ports
For the CRS520-4XS-16XQ-RM's SFP28 25G ports, the XS+85LC01D operates at 25G — making it the direct MikroTik-branded transceiver for the CRS520's 25G SFP28 connectivity tier. Cross-list the XS+85LC01D on the CRS520 product page as the recommended 25G multimode transceiver.
**Comparison to SYNOXX transceivers in this catalogue:**
The XS+85LC01D is a MikroTik-branded transceiver. The SYNOXX transceiver line in this catalogue (10G SFP LR, 25G SFP28, 100G QSFP28 SR4, DAC cables) covers different reach and speed combinations. The key differentiation:
- **XS+85LC01D**: 1G/10G/25G tri-rate, 850nm multimode, 100m, dual LC UPC — the short-reach multimode option with tri-rate flexibility
- **SYNOXX 10G SFP LR** (1310nm, single-mode, 20km): The long-reach single-mode option for 10G — a completely different use case (inter-building, long-haul, single-mode plant)
- **SYNOXX 25G SFP28**: Confirm reach and wavelength from the SYNOXX product page — if single-mode LR, then the XS+85LC01D is the multimode SR complement at 25G
Both product lines can coexist in the same catalogue without cannibalisation — multimode SR for intra-building short-reach, single-mode LR for inter-building or long-reach runs. Cross-link both on each other's product pages with explicit reach and fibre type differentiation.
**Canadian market note:** No FCC or IC certification is published on the XS+85LC01D product page. Optical transceivers are passive RF-silent devices with no wireless transmitter — the regulatory certification concern is primarily electrical safety (CE, RoHS) and host platform compatibility rather than ISED wireless certification. No IC wireless certification advisory applies. Confirm any applicable Canadian import certification requirements with your distributor.
