The MikroTik hAP ax lite is MikroTik’s most affordable Wi-Fi 6 router, combining 802.11ax wireless, Gigabit Ethernet, full RouterOS v7 functionality, and USB-C power in a compact form factor. Built on the same IPQ-5010 platform used across MikroTik’s modern Wi-Fi 6 lineup, the hAP ax lite delivers enterprise-grade RouterOS capabilities at a price point practical for per-room, per-desk, hospitality, travel, and SMB deployments.
The hAP ax lite is powered by Qualcomm’s IPQ-5010 platform, a dual-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor with integrated 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6 radio functionality. This integrated design reduces power consumption, board size, and overall hardware complexity while enabling efficient routing and wireless performance.
A separate MediaTek MT7531BE switch chip manages the four Gigabit Ethernet ports, providing hardware-offloaded Layer 2 switching, VLAN support, and MAC forwarding.
The hAP ax lite supports single-band 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) with dual-chain AX600 performance. Key Wi-Fi 6 improvements include:
-
OFDMA: Improves efficiency and reduces latency when multiple devices are connected simultaneously.
-
BSS Colouring: Reduces interference in dense multi-AP deployments such as hotels and offices.
-
WPA3 Security: Supports WPA3-PSK and WPA3-EAP for stronger wireless security and modern authentication standards.
-
4.3 dBi Internal Antennas: Higher-gain internal antennas improve coverage and signal reliability.
The hAP ax lite includes four Gigabit Ethernet ports:
-
Ether1: WAN uplink port
-
Ether2–Ether4: LAN ports for wired client devices
The MT7531BE switch chip hardware-offloads LAN switching traffic, preserving CPU resources for routing, firewall, and wireless tasks.
Unlike most MikroTik routers, the hAP ax lite is powered via USB-C at 5V. It can operate from:
-
The included USB-C power adapter
-
USB-C laptop chargers and USB-C PD adapters
-
Docking stations and monitor USB-C ports
-
USB-C power banks
-
Rack-mounted USB-C power distribution systems
This makes the hAP ax lite particularly well suited for travel, temporary deployments, hospitality environments, and compact installations.
MikroTik specifically positions the hAP ax lite as a travel router capable of creating a private WPA3-secured Wi-Fi network from a hotel Ethernet connection while powered from a standard USB-C charger.
The hAP ax lite runs RouterOS v7 with License 4, providing advanced networking features including:
-
Stateful firewall and NAT
-
DHCP and DNS services
-
WireGuard VPN
-
Hotspot gateway functionality
-
CAPsMAN managed access point mode
-
Advanced routing and scripting
-
ARM32 container support
WireGuard support enables secure remote connectivity back to home or office networks, while CAPsMAN integration makes the hAP ax lite ideal for centrally managed hotel or office Wi-Fi deployments.
The hAP ax lite is particularly well suited for hotel and hospitality environments where one router per room is desirable. Each room can have its own private WPA3-secured Wi-Fi network while all devices are centrally managed through CAPsMAN.
The optional RMK-2/10 rackmount bracket allows two hAP ax lite units to be mounted side-by-side in a single 1U rack space for staging, provisioning, or centralized installations.
The hAP ax lite includes free RouterOS v7 updates for the lifetime of the product or a minimum of five years from purchase.
The device is certified for CE, FCC, IC, EAC, and RoHS compliance, including confirmed IC certification for Canadian deployments.

General information
All students who attend the Training can receive a free L4 license from MikroTik. Training should be at least three days long.
Students are allowed to take the certification test ONLY upon the attendance of individual training course, in the class, under the supervision of a MikroTik Certified Training Partner.
Each certification test consists of a pre-defined % of random questions (multiple choice and true/false) from specific question categories. Items also have a difficulty parameter. MTCNA test is generated from more straightforward questions, Advanced tests – from more difficult questions.
Only one attempt is allowed. The test must be finished within one hour. The passing grade is set to 60%. There are 25 questions in the exam.
Certificate numbers and RouterOS L4 licenses are assigned automatically by MikroTik. Students can see their certificates and generate license keys once logged into the account server. Printed documents from MikroTik cost USD 30 per piece. Shipping is not included.
Remote training sessions and certification exams are not allowed.
MikroTik Certification Test without prior attendance of particular MikroTik Training Session is not allowed.
