MikroTik FTC11XG 10G SFP+ Fiber-to-Copper IP55 RJ45
The MikroTik FTC11XG is a weatherproof IP55 10 Gigabit fiber-to-copper media converter — 1× SFP+ 10G fiber input, 1× 10/100/1000/10G RJ45 Ethernet output, Marvell 88E6193 switch chip, SwitchOS Lite with VLAN, SNMP, ACL, and traffic shaping, 64 KB FLASH, dual power input (DC jack 18–57V, 802.3bt PoE-in 43–57V), passive cooling, IP55, -40°C to +70°C, MTBF ~200,000 hours at 25°C. CE, EAC, RoHS certified. Includes K-81 fastening set, 48V 0.95A power adapter, Gigabit PoE injector. The correct managed 10G fiber-to-copper converter for outdoor, ceiling-mount, and harsh-environment deployments where a 10G SFP+ fiber run must terminate to a 10G RJ45 device without a full switch layer, with VLAN, ACL, and SNMP management built in.

The MikroTik FTC11XG is not a standard dumb media converter — it is a managed fiber-to-copper conversion device running SwitchOS Lite on a dedicated Marvell 88E6193 switch chip, bringing VLAN tagging, ACL packet filtering, SNMP monitoring, and basic traffic shaping to a device category where those capabilities are almost universally absent at this price point. For a network operator who needs to terminate a 10G SFP+ fiber run at a remote location — a ceiling-mount point in an office, a rooftop equipment enclosure, an outdoor industrial location — and hand off 10G RJ45 to a downstream device, the FTC11XG does that conversion while also providing managed switch-level control over the converted interface.
The fiber-to-copper conversion function is the physical core of the device: a 10G SFP+ port accepts any compatible SFP+ transceiver — SR (multimode 850nm), LR (single-mode 1310nm), DAC cable, or AOC cable — and converts the fiber or DAC signal to a standard 10G RJ45 Ethernet output. The RJ45 port auto-negotiates down to 1G, 100M, or 10M for legacy downstream devices, making the FTC11XG backward-compatible with any Ethernet device at the termination point. The SFP+ port accepts the full range of standard SFP+ modules — including the MikroTik XS+85LC01D tri-rate multimode transceiver for multimode fiber runs up to 100m, or single-mode LR transceivers for longer inter-building runs.
The Marvell 88E6193 switch chip is what separates the FTC11XG from commodity media converters. The 88E6193 is an enterprise-class Marvell switch ASIC — the same chip family used in MikroTik's managed switch portfolio — providing hardware-offloaded Layer 2 switching and the hardware foundation for the SwitchOS Lite feature set. A commodity media converter has no switch chip and no management capability — it is a physical layer device only. The FTC11XG's 88E6193 provides:
- **VLAN support:** 802.1Q VLAN tagging and filtering at the conversion point — the FTC11XG can tag, untag, or filter traffic by VLAN ID as it crosses the fiber-to-copper boundary. For a deployment where the fiber uplink carries multiple VLANs (management, guest, staff, IoT) and the downstream RJ45 device should receive only a specific VLAN, the FTC11XG handles VLAN filtering at the converter itself rather than requiring a downstream managed switch.
- **ACL packet filtering:** Layer 2, 3, and 4 ACL rules — the FTC11XG can filter, permit, deny, or VLAN-tag packets based on MAC address, IP address, TCP/UDP port, and other protocol header fields. For a deployment where the fiber uplink is a shared or semi-trusted network segment, ACL filtering at the FTC11XG prevents unwanted traffic from reaching the downstream RJ45 device without a separate firewall or router.
- **SNMP reporting:** SNMP v1/v2/v3 monitoring — the FTC11XG reports interface statistics, error counters, and operational status to a central SNMP management system. For a large deployment of FTC11XG converters across multiple floors or buildings, SNMP reporting allows centralised monitoring of every fiber-to-copper conversion point without physical access.
- **Traffic shaping:** Basic per-port rate limiting — the FTC11XG can limit the throughput on the RJ45 output port, useful for deployments where the downstream device should not consume the full 10G bandwidth of the fiber uplink.
- **Interface management and monitoring:** Port status, link state, error counters, and CPU temperature monitoring via the SwitchOS Lite web interface — the same management interface available on the CSS318-16G-2S+IN and other MikroTik SwitchOS devices.
The IP55 weatherproofing makes the FTC11XG deployable in outdoor and harsh-environment locations where indoor-rated media converters cannot be installed. IP55 provides full dust protection and protection against water jets from any direction — suitable for outdoor ceiling-mount installations, building entry points where fiber enters from an exterior conduit, rooftop equipment enclosures, and industrial environments with washdown exposure. The ceiling-mount K-81 fastening set is included specifically for this use case — mounting the FTC11XG directly to a ceiling at the fiber termination point and handing off 10G RJ45 to a co-located device without a separate equipment cabinet or patch panel.
The dual power input architecture matches the FTC11XG's deployment flexibility. DC jack input (18–57V) accepts direct connection to any DC power supply in the 18–57V range — a 24V or 48V panel-mount PSU, a 48V PoE injector output, or a 24V battery-backed DC bus. The 802.3bt PoE-in (43–57V) accepts 802.3bt high-power PoE from a PoE switch port — the included Gigabit PoE injector provides PoE-in power from a standard non-PoE switch port or Ethernet wall outlet. At 9–10W maximum consumption, the FTC11XG's power draw is well within the 802.3af (15.4W) standard — the 802.3bt PoE-in specification (43–57V input voltage range) means the FTC11XG requires PoE voltage in the 802.3bt high-voltage range rather than the standard 802.3af/at 44–57V range. The included 48V 0.95A power adapter and Gigabit PoE injector ensure out-of-box powering without requiring a PoE switch at the installation location.
The -40°C to +70°C operating temperature range is one of the widest in this product batch — matching MikroTik's most robust outdoor active devices and making the FTC11XG suitable for Canadian outdoor deployments across the full seasonal temperature range, including unheated equipment enclosures in Canadian winter conditions.
The 5-year minimum software update guarantee is stated explicitly on the product page — SwitchOS Lite updates are provided free for the life of the product or a minimum of 5 years from purchase date. For a deployed infrastructure device at a remote or difficult-to-access location, long-term software support is a meaningful operational commitment.
**Canadian market note:** Certifications are CE, EAC, and RoHS — no FCC or IC published. The FTC11XG is a wired Ethernet and fiber device with no wireless transmitter. No ISED wireless certification advisory applies. Confirm any applicable Canadian electrical safety certification requirements with your distributor.
