MikroTik PW48V-12V85W ±48V Telecom PSU CCR CRS r2

The MikroTik PW48V-12V85W is a ±48V DC telecom open-frame replacement power supply delivering 12V at 7A output — purpose-built for Cloud Core Routers since revision "r2", the CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS, and the CRS326-24S+2Q+RM. Designed specifically for -48V telecom DC power plants with a supported input range of 36V to 57V, it drops directly into the existing PSU bay of compatible devices — no modifications, no adapters, no rewiring of the router chassis. The PW48V-12V85W is the correct solution for data centres, telecom facilities, and MSPs running -48V DC infrastructure who need their MikroTik routing and switching hardware powered directly from the DC bus.

The MikroTik PW48V-12V85W solves a specific and real problem for network engineers working in telecom and data centre environments: MikroTik's Cloud Core Routers and CRS326-24S+2Q+RM ship with AC power supplies as standard, but -48V DC telecom power plants do not have AC outlets — they have DC bus bars. The PW48V-12V85W bridges that gap cleanly. Remove the existing PSU from the compatible CCR or CRS chassis, slide in the PW48V-12V85W, connect it to the -48V DC bus, and the router powers up from the telecom plant — no inverter, no AC adapter, no additional hardware required.

The -48V DC standard is the power backbone of telecom facilities globally. It was chosen for telecom infrastructure because of its safety characteristics (lower shock risk than AC), its battery backup compatibility (48V lead-acid and lithium battery banks are the standard for UPS and backup power in telecoms), and its efficiency over long cable runs within a facility. Any MSP, WISP, or enterprise IT team with equipment in a proper telecom facility or co-location data centre with -48V DC power distribution will encounter this requirement. The PW48V-12V85W means MikroTik hardware integrates directly into that infrastructure without compromise.

The supported input range of 36V to 57V covers the full operating range of a standard -48V telecom DC plant — from a discharged battery bank (approaching 36V) through float charge (typically 52–54V) to equalisation charge peaks. The polarity convention is important and must be followed: the positive terminal must be 36–57V higher potential than the negative terminal. In a standard -48V negative ground system, the negative terminal sits at -48V relative to ground, and the positive terminal sits at 0V (ground) — giving a potential difference of +48V across the terminals, well within the 36–57V supported range.

The open-frame form factor means the PW48V-12V85W is a bare PCB-level module — it has no housing, no IP protection (IP00), and no standalone enclosure. It is designed exclusively to be installed inside the chassis of a compatible CCR or CRS device. It is not field-serviceable in an exposed or outdoor environment and must only be handled and installed by qualified personnel with appropriate ESD and electrical safety precautions.

**Compatibility is strict.** MikroTik names the following compatible devices:

- Cloud Core Routers since revision **"r2"** — check the device label for the revision suffix. Earlier CCR revisions use a different PSU form factor and are NOT compatible with the PW48V-12V85W.

- **CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS** — explicitly listed as compatible.

- **CRS326-24S+2Q+RM** — explicitly listed as compatible.

Do not install the PW48V-12V85W in any CCR revision prior to "r2" or in any device not listed above. Confirm the exact revision of your CCR before ordering.

Key specifications:

- Input voltage: ±48V DC (supported range 36V to 57V), 3A

- Output voltage: 12V, 7A

- Form factor: Open frame (bare module, no housing)

- IP rating: IP00 — no ingress protection, chassis installation only

- MTBF: ~100,000 hours at 25°C

- Compatible devices: CCR since revision "r2", CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS, CRS326-24S+2Q+RM

General information

All students who attend the Training can receive a free L4 license from MikroTik. Training should be at least three days long.

Students are allowed to take the certification test ONLY upon the attendance of individual training course, in the class, under the supervision of a MikroTik Certified Training Partner.

Each certification test consists of a pre-defined % of random questions (multiple choice and true/false) from specific question categories. Items also have a difficulty parameter. MTCNA test is generated from more straightforward questions, Advanced tests – from more difficult questions.

Only one attempt is allowed. The test must be finished within one hour. The passing grade is set to 60%. There are 25 questions in the exam.

Certificate numbers and RouterOS L4 licenses are assigned automatically by MikroTik. Students can see their certificates and generate license keys once logged into the account server. Printed documents from MikroTik cost USD 30 per piece. Shipping is not included.

Remote training sessions and certification exams are not allowed.

MikroTik Certification Test without prior attendance of particular MikroTik Training Session is not allowed.

Wireless Netware offers every participant a free RouterBOARD hAP-ac-lite.

The price includes class attendance, course materials, coffee breaks and lunch, "Only for local Training." The amount does not cover travel and accommodation expenses.

Please bring (very important): Laptop, power extension strip (10ft./3m) with five sockets, one long Ethernet cable (16ft./5m+) and several short Ethernet cables.

Cost: Early bird price for the course is $850. It is valid 15 days before the scheduled session, referring to the MikroTik Training website. The price will be $1050 after the early bird date. The price includes class attendance, course materials, coffee breaks and lunch," Only for local Training." The amount does not cover travel and accommodation expenses. Seating is limited to only four students. The seat is reserved and guaranteed just after the payment is received in full amount.

Certificates will only be valid for three years.

Become a consultant: It's simple if you have MTCNA (score 75%+) and at least one valid MikroTik Engineer level certificate (MTCRE, MTCWE, MTCTCE, MTCUME or MEDICINE) with score 75%+, apply by email with your mikrotik.com account name and fields of expertise and MikroTik will add you to the list.
