MikroTik ATL 5G R16 Outdoor eSIM 5G CPE 16 dBi IP66
The MikroTik ATL 5G R16 (ATLGM&RG520F-EU) is MikroTik's first outdoor 5G CPE with built-in eSIM — a rugged, IP66-rated, snow-resistant outdoor unit combining a 16 dBi high-gain directional antenna array (4× mid-band + 4× low-band), 5G Release 16 modem with LTE Cat 20, 4×4 MIMO, full Band 28 support for rural low-band coverage, eSIM with MikroTik Connectivity alongside Micro SIM, 1× Gigabit Ethernet with 802.3af/at PoE-in, dual-core ARM64 88F3720 CPU at 800 MHz, 512 MB RAM, passive cooling, and RouterOS v7 License Level 3. Install it on any rooftop, pole, or mast, power it with a single PoE cable, and be online in minutes with no SIM card required.

The MikroTik ATL 5G R16 is a genuinely different product from anything MikroTik has shipped before. It is their first outdoor 5G CPE — not an indoor router with external antennas, but a fully sealed IP66-rated outdoor unit designed to live on a rooftop, pole, or tower year-round, in any weather, without maintenance. The spaceship-shaped enclosure is not a design exercise: the aerodynamic profile actively sheds snow, ice, and water, preventing accumulation and freezing that would degrade antenna performance or require manual clearing after winter storms.
The antenna system is the performance foundation. Eight integrated antennas — 4 high-gain mid-band and 4 low-band — with 16 dBi gain and 4×4 MIMO DL cover the full spectrum of frequencies that matter for Canadian cellular connectivity. Band 28 (700 MHz) support is explicitly highlighted and covers both LTE and 5G NSA/SA — this is the low-band frequency range used by Telus and Bell for rural and building-penetrating coverage, where signal travels further and punches through walls and terrain that mid-band and high-band simply cannot reach. For rural deployments, Band 28 support is not optional — it is the difference between a working link and no link.
The built-in eSIM with MikroTik Connectivity is the installation story. Carry the ATL 5G R16 to the installation site, mount it, run a single PoE cable, and activate a data plan from your MikroTik account — no SIM card, no carrier store visit, no waiting for a physical SIM to arrive by mail. For installers, ISPs, and IT managers deploying at multiple sites, the time saving per installation is significant. The Micro SIM slot remains available alongside eSIM for deployments where a physical carrier SIM is preferred or required.
The 5G Release 16 modem with LTE Cat 20 (2.0 Gbps downlink, 200 Mbps uplink) ensures the ATL 5G R16 extracts maximum throughput from available 5G and LTE infrastructure. R16 brings improved uplink enhancements, better positioning capabilities, and more efficient handling of IoT-heavy network environments compared to earlier 5G releases — relevant for deployments where the ATL 5G R16 is feeding a downstream KNOT or IoT network.
A single Gigabit Ethernet cable running 802.3af/at PoE (12–56V) from the included PoE injector handles both power and data. No separate power run, no conduit, no additional hardware at the mounting point. The M.2 slot provides future expansion capability — details not published by MikroTik at time of listing.

Students are allowed to take the certification test ONLY upon the attendance of individual training course, in the class, under the supervision of a MikroTik Certified Training Partner.
Each certification test consists of a pre-defined % of random questions (multiple choice and true/false) from specific question categories. Items also have a difficulty parameter. MTCNA test is generated from more straightforward questions, Advanced tests – from more difficult questions.
Only one attempt is allowed. The test must be finished within one hour. The passing grade is set to 60%. There are 25 questions in the exam.
Certificate numbers and RouterOS L4 licenses are assigned automatically by MikroTik. Students can see their certificates and generate license keys once logged into the account server. Printed documents from MikroTik cost USD 30 per piece. Shipping is not included.
Remote training sessions and certification exams are not allowed.
MikroTik Certification Test without prior attendance of particular MikroTik Training Session is not allowed.
