The MikroTik XQ+31LC10D is a 100G QSFP28 single-mode fiber transceiver designed for the 10km inter-site connections that MikroTik's 100G switch and router platform makes possible — the optical module that turns a QSFP28 port on a CRS504-4XQ-OUT, CRS510-8XS-2XQ-IN, CRS518-16XS-2XQ-IN, or CCR2216 into a 10km 100G single-mode fiber link.

**4× 25G WDM channels — how 100G travels 10km on a single SMF pair**

The XQ+31LC10D implements 100GBASE-LR4 — four independent 25G full-duplex optical channels on four separate wavelengths (1296nm, 1300nm, 1305nm, 1309nm), multiplexed onto a single-mode fiber pair via WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing). Each wavelength carries 25 Gbps independently — the four lanes aggregate to 100 Gbps full duplex. The Dual LC UPC connector connects to a standard OS2 single-mode fiber patch cord or pre-terminated fiber run. At 10km reach on OS2 SMF, the XQ+31LC10D covers the inter-building, campus, and tower-to-PoP distances that define ISP aggregation and enterprise campus deployments.

**Digital diagnostics — monitoring optical health in RouterOS**

The XQ+31LC10D includes built-in digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM/DOM) — reporting optical transmit power, received optical power, transceiver supply voltage, operating temperature, and per-channel laser bias current directly to the host switch or router. In RouterOS, these diagnostics are accessible via the interface monitoring commands — providing real-time optical link health without external test equipment. MikroTik explicitly highlights the value: "monitoring allows you to plan ahead, make informed decisions and predict necessary upgrades or maintenance based on the transceiver performance." A gradual decline in received optical power — indicating fiber degradation, connector contamination, or bend loss — is visible in RouterOS before the link fails, enabling proactive maintenance scheduling rather than reactive fault response.

**Compatible MikroTik QSFP28 platforms**

MikroTik explicitly lists the primary compatible devices on the product page: CCR2216, CRS504 (both -4XQ-IN and -4XQ-OUT variants), and CRS518-16XS-2XQ-IN. The CRS510-8XS-2XQ-IN's two QSFP28 ports are also compatible — confirmed by the shared 98DX4310 Prestera ASIC platform and standard QSFP28 electrical interface. Any third-party switch or router with a standard 100GBASE-LR4 compliant QSFP28 port is also compatible — the XQ+31LC10D adheres to the IEEE 802.3ba 100GBASE-LR4 standard.

**Deployment context — where the 10km SMF reach applies**

- **Tower-to-PoP 100G fiber backhaul:** A CRS504-4XQ-OUT at a tower site connected via XQ+31LC10D to a CRS518 or CCR2216 at the ISP's PoP — up to 10km on pre-existing single-mode fiber infrastructure.

- **Campus inter-building 100G links:** Two CRS510-8XS-2XQ-IN units in separate campus buildings connected via XQ+31LC10D transceivers and an OS2 fiber run — 100G inter-building bandwidth within a single campus.

- **Data centre inter-row or inter-suite 100G:** Distances within a data centre or between suites in the same building where DAC cables are too short and AOC cables are unnecessary — a clean OS2 SMF patch cord with XQ+31LC10D at each end.

**Cross-sell note for wirelessnetware.ca:** List the XQ+31LC10D as a recommended accessory on the CRS504-4XQ-IN, CRS504-4XQ-OUT, CRS510-8XS-2XQ-IN, CRS518-16XS-2XQ-IN, and CCR2216 product pages. Suggested label: *"Add 100G single-mode fiber connectivity up to 10km — XQ+31LC10D QSFP28 transceiver (USD 349.00)"*

General information

All students who attend the Training can receive a free L4 license from MikroTik. Training should be at least three days long.

Students are allowed to take the certification test ONLY upon the attendance of individual training course, in the class, under the supervision of a MikroTik Certified Training Partner.

Each certification test consists of a pre-defined % of random questions (multiple choice and true/false) from specific question categories. Items also have a difficulty parameter. MTCNA test is generated from more straightforward questions, Advanced tests – from more difficult questions.

Only one attempt is allowed. The test must be finished within one hour. The passing grade is set to 60%. There are 25 questions in the exam.

Certificate numbers and RouterOS L4 licenses are assigned automatically by MikroTik. Students can see their certificates and generate license keys once logged into the account server. Printed documents from MikroTik cost USD 30 per piece. Shipping is not included.

Remote training sessions and certification exams are not allowed.

MikroTik Certification Test without prior attendance of particular MikroTik Training Session is not allowed.

Wireless Netware offers every participant a free RouterBOARD hAP-ac-lite.

The price includes class attendance, course materials, coffee breaks and lunch, "Only for local Training." The amount does not cover travel and accommodation expenses.

Please bring (very important): Laptop, power extension strip (10ft./3m) with five sockets, one long Ethernet cable (16ft./5m+) and several short Ethernet cables.

Cost: Early bird price for the course is $850. It is valid 15 days before the scheduled session, referring to the MikroTik Training website. The price will be $1050 after the early bird date. The price includes class attendance, course materials, coffee breaks and lunch," Only for local Training." The amount does not cover travel and accommodation expenses. Seating is limited to only four students. The seat is reserved and guaranteed just after the payment is received in full amount.
