MikroTik LHG XL 5 ax 27 dBi Wi-Fi 6 Outdoor PtP CPE
The MikroTik LHG XL 5 ax (LHG-5axD-XL) is the high-gain long-range outdoor Wi-Fi 6 CPE built for point-to-point links that demand maximum reach and signal stability. With a 27 dBi integrated grid antenna, 5 GHz 802.11a/n/ac/ax at 1,200 Mbps, WPA3 security, dual-core IPQ-5010 ARM CPU, 256 MB RAM, passive PoE powering (12–28V), IP54 weatherproofing, FCC and IC certification, and RouterOS v7 — it is capable of stable PtP links up to 30 km in ideal conditions. The XL model is the right choice when the standard LHG 5 ax (24.5 dBi) is not enough.

The MikroTik LHG XL 5 ax is the answer to the oldest problem in outdoor wireless networking: getting a fast, stable link across a distance that makes standard access points irrelevant. At 27 dBi, the LHG XL 5 ax generates the antenna gain needed to bridge buildings, connect remote sites, and share internet across infrastructure gaps where nothing else at this price point is viable.
The jump from the previous LHG generation to the LHG XL 5 ax is not a spec sheet refresh — it is a generational change in the wireless standard. Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) brings 1024-QAM modulation, OFDMA, and improved spectral efficiency to the LHG platform for the first time. In real-world outdoor links, this translates to higher throughput per MHz, more reliable data rates in noisy RF environments (adjacent channels, competing links, interference from other ISM-band devices), and lower latency under load. The previous generation ran 802.11ac at best; the LHG XL 5 ax runs 802.11ax.
WPA3 security is built-in — the current gold standard for wireless encryption, replacing WPA2 in deployments where security requirements have been updated. For managed ISP CPE deployments, WPA3 satisfies modern compliance requirements without additional configuration.
The aerodynamic grid antenna design is a deliberate engineering choice for permanent outdoor installations. Grid antennas shed wind load significantly better than solid dish antennas — critical for tower mounts, rooftop installations, and exposed pole mounts in Canadian weather conditions where wind and ice accumulation are real operational factors.
The Gigabit Ethernet port with passive PoE-in (12–28V) keeps the installation clean — a single cable carries both data and power from the included PoE injector to the unit, with no separate power supply run required at the mounting point. At 5W maximum power consumption, the LHG XL 5 ax is one of the most power-efficient 5 GHz outdoor units in its class.

General information
All students who attend the Training can receive a free L4 license from MikroTik. Training should be at least three days long.
Students are allowed to take the certification test ONLY upon the attendance of individual training course, in the class, under the supervision of a MikroTik Certified Training Partner.
Each certification test consists of a pre-defined % of random questions (multiple choice and true/false) from specific question categories. Items also have a difficulty parameter. MTCNA test is generated from more straightforward questions, Advanced tests – from more difficult questions.
Only one attempt is allowed. The test must be finished within one hour. The passing grade is set to 60%. There are 25 questions in the exam.
Certificate numbers and RouterOS L4 licenses are assigned automatically by MikroTik. Students can see their certificates and generate license keys once logged into the account server. Printed documents from MikroTik cost USD 30 per piece. Shipping is not included.
Remote training sessions and certification exams are not allowed.
MikroTik Certification Test without prior attendance of particular MikroTik Training Session is not allowed.
Wireless Netware offers every participant a free RouterBOARD hAP-ac-lite.
The price includes class attendance, course materials, coffee breaks and lunch, "Only for local Training." The amount does not cover travel and accommodation expenses.
Please bring (very important): Laptop, power extension strip (10ft./3m) with five sockets, one long Ethernet cable (16ft./5m+) and several short Ethernet cables.
Cost: Early bird price for the course is $850. It is valid 15 days before the scheduled session, referring to the MikroTik Training website. The price will be $1050 after the early bird date.
