MikroTik hAP ax2 Wi-Fi 6 AX1800 Dual-Band ROS7 L4

The MikroTik hAP ax² is a powerful dual-band Wi-Fi 6 home access point and router, representing the next generation of the widely popular hAP ac² platform. It delivers AX1800 wireless speeds — up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz — via a dual-chain 802.11ax radio on each band, powered by a Qualcomm IPQ-6010 quad-core ARM64 CPU running at 864 MHz with 1 GB of RAM. The unit features five Gigabit Ethernet ports, passive PoE-in and PoE-out on Ether 1, runs RouterOS v7 with a Level 4 licence, and supports IPsec hardware encryption. It can be mounted vertically, horizontally, or on the wall using the included accessories, making it an excellent all-in-one solution for home users, small offices, and network enthusiasts.

The hAP ax² (C52iG-5HaxD2HaxD-TC) is MikroTik's Generation 6 successor to the hAP ac², bringing Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) to the beloved hAP form factor. Both radio bands have been substantially upgraded: the 5 GHz radio delivers up to 1200 Mbps (up to 40% faster than its predecessor) and the 2.4 GHz radio delivers up to 574 Mbps (up to 90% faster), using a dual-chain configuration on each band with the Qualcomm QCN-5052 (5 GHz) and QCN-5022 (2.4 GHz) chips. Antenna gain is 4.5 dBi on 5 GHz and 4 dBi on 2.4 GHz. The combined rated Wi-Fi speed is AX1800.

At the heart of the hAP ax² is the Qualcomm IPQ-6010 system-on-chip, which serves as both the CPU and the switch chip. The quad-core, quad-thread ARM 64-bit processor runs at 864 MHz and is backed by 1 GB of RAM and 128 MB of NAND flash storage — a significant upgrade in memory over older hAP models. This gives the unit substantial headroom for demanding RouterOS tasks including complex firewall rulesets, IPsec VPN tunnels with hardware acceleration, traffic shaping with multiple queues, and container workloads. IPsec throughput testing shows up to 878 Mbps in a single tunnel using AES-128-CBC + SHA1 at 1400-byte packets. RouterOS v7 is included with a Level 4 licence.

The wired side provides five 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet ports. Port 1 (Ether 1) supports both passive PoE-in and passive PoE-out — the unit can be powered via PoE from an upstream device, and simultaneously deliver up to 16.8 W / 0.6 A of passive PoE to a connected downstream device such as a MikroTik access point or IP camera. Alternatively, the device can be powered via its DC jack (12–28 V). Passive PoE-in accepts 18–28 V, and the DC jack accepts 12–28 V. Maximum power consumption is 27 W under full load, and just 12 W without attached PoE devices. Cooling is entirely passive.

The unit ships with the hAP case base, K-47 wall mount set, and a 24 V 1.2 A power supply, and supports vertical, horizontal, and wall mounting orientations to suit any installation. A mode button and CPU temperature monitor are included. The device is rated for -40 °C to 50 °C operating temperatures. Certifications include CE, FCC, IC, EAC, and RoHS.

General information

All students who attend the Training can receive a free L4 license from MikroTik. Training should be at least three days long.

Students are allowed to take the certification test ONLY upon the attendance of individual training course, in the class, under the supervision of a MikroTik Certified Training Partner.

Each certification test consists of a pre-defined % of random questions (multiple choice and true/false) from specific question categories. Items also have a difficulty parameter. MTCNA test is generated from more straightforward questions, Advanced tests – from more difficult questions.

Only one attempt is allowed. The test must be finished within one hour. The passing grade is set to 60%. There are 25 questions in the exam.

Certificate numbers and RouterOS L4 licenses are assigned automatically by MikroTik. Students can see their certificates and generate license keys once logged into the account server. Printed documents from MikroTik cost USD 30 per piece. Shipping is not included.

Remote training sessions and certification exams are not allowed.

MikroTik Certification Test without prior attendance of particular MikroTik Training Session is not allowed.
