The MikroTik hAP ax³ is the flagship of MikroTik's home router lineup — the device where RouterOS v7 License 6, quad-core ARM64 at up to 1.8 GHz, 1 GB RAM, and dual-band Wi-Fi 6 AX1800 converge in a single home access point at USD 139.00. It is the correct choice when the hAP ax lite's USB-C portability or the L009UiGS-2HaxD-IN's rack-mount form factor are not the priority — and maximum CPU headroom, dual-band 5 GHz + 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6, 2.5G Ethernet, and PoE-out capability are.
**IPQ-6010 — quad-core ARM64 at 1.8 GHz with integrated dual-band Wi-Fi 6**
The IPQ-6010 is Qualcomm's quad-core ARM64 Cortex-A53 platform with integrated dual-band Wi-Fi 6 radio capability — simultaneously the routing CPU, switch chip, and Wi-Fi 6 baseband. At up to 1.8 GHz across four cores with 1 GB RAM, the hAP ax³ handles IPsec hardware encryption, WireGuard VPN tunnels, BGP routing, complex firewall rulesets, and multiple simultaneous VPN clients without degrading Wi-Fi or routing throughput. MikroTik's own framing: "complex firewall rules, IPsec hardware encryption, WireGuard, BGP, advanced routing, or multiple remote work VPN tunnels won't stop your family from comfortable browsing, streaming, gaming."
**AX1800 dual-band — 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6 simultaneously**
The QCN-5052 provides 5 GHz 802.11a/n/ac/ax at 1200 Mbps (2-chain, 5.5 dBi via RP-SMA). The QCN-5022 provides 2.4 GHz 802.11b/g/n/ax at 574 Mbps (2-chain, 3.3 dBi via RP-SMA). Both bands are Wi-Fi 6 — OFDMA, BSS colouring, WPA3-PSK/EAP, and MU-MIMO across both frequencies simultaneously. The RP-SMA external antenna ports accept the included HGO indoor antenna kit and are compatible with third-party high-gain RP-SMA antennas for extended coverage. MikroTik cites up to 40% higher speed in 5 GHz and up to 90% higher speed in 2.4 GHz versus previous-generation Wi-Fi in comparable setups.
**2.5G Ethernet + passive PoE-out — the wired differentiators**
The 2.5G Ethernet port is the WAN-side connection — accepting a 2.5G feed from a multi-gig modem, ONT, or upstream switch, bypassing the 1G bottleneck that limits throughput on ISP plans above 1 Gbps. Passive PoE-out on Ether1 (15W max, 0.625A) powers a downstream PoE device — a MikroTik outdoor AP, a PoE IP camera, or a second router — directly from the hAP ax³ without a separate PoE injector.
**RouterOS v7 License 6 — the highest home router license in MikroTik's lineup**
License 6 is the top RouterOS license tier — providing unlimited routing protocol instances (BGP peers, OSPF areas, VRF instances) versus the instance limits of License 4 and 5. For a home power user running BGP with their ISP, a homelab with multiple VRF-separated networks, or an SMB operator who needs full L3 routing capability without a separate CCR, License 6 on the hAP ax³ removes all routing protocol constraints.
**USB 3.0 — storage, file sharing, and LTE modem**
The USB 3.0 Type-A port at 1.5A supports USB storage for SMB/CIFS file sharing across the home network, a USB LTE modem for WAN failover, or a USB printer server. USB Power Reset allows power cycling an attached USB LTE modem from RouterOS without physically unplugging it.
**5-year software support guarantee:** RouterOS v7 updates free for life of product or minimum 5 years from date of purchase.
**Canadian market note — IC certification confirmed:** CE, FCC, IC, EAC, RoHS — IC (ISED) certified for Canadian Wi-Fi operation on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. List IC certification prominently on the wirelessnetware.ca product page.

All students who attend the Training can receive a free L4 license from MikroTik. Training should be at least three days long.
Students are allowed to take the certification test ONLY upon the attendance of individual training course, in the class, under the supervision of a MikroTik Certified Training Partner.
Each certification test consists of a pre-defined % of random questions (multiple choice and true/false) from specific question categories. Items also have a difficulty parameter. MTCNA test is generated from more straightforward questions, Advanced tests – from more difficult questions.
Only one attempt is allowed. The test must be finished within one hour. The passing grade is set to 60%. There are 25 questions in the exam.
Certificate numbers and RouterOS L4 licenses are assigned automatically by MikroTik. Students can see their certificates and generate license keys once logged into the account server. Printed documents from MikroTik cost USD 30 per piece. Shipping is not included.
