MikroTik mAP lite 2.4GHz Dual-Chain Micro AP PoE Travel Router

The MikroTik mAP lite (RBmAPL-2nD) is MikroTik's smallest wireless access point — barely larger than a matchbox at just 48 × 49 × 11 mm — yet it runs the full MikroTik RouterOS feature set on a dual-chain 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n (Wi-Fi 4) radio. Designed for portability and versatility, it can be powered via microUSB (5 V) or 802.3af/at PoE, consumes just 3.5 W, and is equally at home as a travel router, a hotel room Wi-Fi extender, a server configuration tool, or a discreet permanent access point installation. Running RouterOS with a QCA9533 processor at 650 MHz and 64 MB of RAM, the mAP lite delivers full networking capability in the smallest possible package — ideal for technicians, travellers, and network professionals who need RouterOS in their pocket.

The MikroTik mAP lite takes the concept of the micro access point to its logical extreme. It is the smallest device in MikroTik's wireless lineup — a form factor so compact that MikroTik notes they had to design a special mini case just to house it. Despite this, it ships with the complete RouterOS operating system and all the networking capabilities that entails, making it far more than just a basic Wi-Fi repeater or consumer travel router.

Wireless Performance

The mAP lite uses the QCA9533 chip to deliver dual-chain 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n (Wi-Fi 4) wireless with a maximum data rate of 300 Mbit/s and an integrated antenna with 1.5 dBi of gain. Receive sensitivity spans from -96 dBm at 1 Mbit/s to -71 dBm at MCS7, providing reliable connectivity for typical indoor short-range applications. The dual-chain design improves throughput and link stability compared to single-chain devices of similar size.

Processing & Storage

The unit is powered by a QCA9533 processor running at 650 MHz on the MIPSBE architecture, with 64 MB of RAM and 16 MB of FLASH storage. RouterOS is pre-installed and licensed — no additional software purchase is required. Despite the tiny hardware footprint, the full RouterOS feature set is available, including routing, bridging, firewall, QoS, VPN, hotspot, and wireless management, all configurable via WinBox, WebFig, or CLI.

Ethernet & Powering

A single 10/100 Fast Ethernet port handles data and PoE input. The mAP lite supports two power input methods: 802.3af/at PoE via the Ethernet port (10–60 V) and a microUSB port (5 V), making it compatible with standard phone chargers, power banks, and laptop USB ports — ideal for travel use. Maximum power consumption is an exceptionally low 3.5 W. Passive cooling keeps the unit completely silent.

Build & Form Factor

At just 48 × 49 × 11 mm, the mAP lite is one of the most discreet networking devices available. It is rated IP20 for indoor use with a tested operating temperature range of -30°C to 70°C. MTBF is approximately 100,000 hours at 25°C. The package includes a 5V 1A power adapter and a K-44 mount kit.

Use Cases

The mAP lite is described by MikroTik as ideal for use as a travel router to extend hotel internet to all your devices, or as a configuration tool for servers when no Ethernet is available on a laptop. It is equally well suited for permanent discreet access point installations, IoT network gateways, in-vehicle Wi-Fi, or any scenario where the smallest possible RouterOS-capable wireless device is needed.

General information

All students who attend the Training can receive a free L4 license from MikroTik. Training should be at least three days long.

Students are allowed to take the certification test ONLY upon the attendance of individual training course, in the class, under the supervision of a MikroTik Certified Training Partner.

Each certification test consists of a pre-defined % of random questions (multiple choice and true/false) from specific question categories. Items also have a difficulty parameter. MTCNA test is generated from more straightforward questions, Advanced tests – from more difficult questions.

Only one attempt is allowed. The test must be finished within one hour. The passing grade is set to 60%. There are 25 questions in the exam.

Certificate numbers and RouterOS L4 licenses are assigned automatically by MikroTik. Students can see their certificates and generate license keys once logged into the account server. Printed documents from MikroTik cost USD 30 per piece. Shipping is not included.
