MikroTik OmniTIK 5 PoE ac 5GHz 802.11ac Omni AP 5-Port Gigabit 4x PoE-Out

The MikroTik OmniTIK 5 PoE ac (RBOmniTikPG-5HacD) is a significant upgrade to MikroTik's popular OmniTIK 5GHz access point line, combining an integrated 7.5 dBi omnidirectional antenna with 802.11ac (Wi-Fi 5) wireless performance in a weather-resistant outdoor enclosure. Built around a dual-chain 5GHz radio capable of up to 867 Mbit/s, it features five Gigabit Ethernet ports — four of which support 802.3af/at PoE output — making it ideal for powering additional devices directly from the unit. Running MikroTik's RouterOS, the OmniTIK 5 PoE ac suits network installers, ISPs, and enterprises looking for a versatile outdoor access point that also serves as a compact PoE distribution hub in a single, pole-mountable unit.

The MikroTik OmniTIK 5 PoE ac is a purpose-built outdoor wireless access point designed to deliver wide-area 5GHz coverage with the added convenience of integrated PoE output ports. It represents a notable step forward from its predecessors, bringing 802.11ac (Wi-Fi 5) support and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity together in a robust, weatherproof package rated IP54.

Wireless Performance

At the heart of the unit is a dual-chain 5GHz radio based on the QCA9892 wireless chip, supporting the 802.11a/n/ac standard set for maximum compatibility and throughput. The integrated omnidirectional antenna provides 7.5 dBi of gain across a 360-degree coverage pattern, making it well-suited for scenarios where wireless coverage needs to radiate evenly in all directions — such as outdoor courtyards, campsites, marinas, or building rooftops. Maximum wireless data rate reaches 867 Mbit/s, and the receive sensitivity ranges from -96 dBm at 6 Mbit/s down to -72 dBm at MCS9, ensuring reliable connectivity even at lower signal levels.

The international version (RBOmniTikPG-5HacD) supports the 5150–5875 MHz frequency range, while the US variant is factory-locked to the FCC-approved 5170–5250 MHz and 5725–5835 MHz sub-bands.

Ethernet & PoE Capabilities

The OmniTIK 5 PoE ac is equipped with five 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet ports (Ether1–Ether5). Ether1 serves as the PoE input, accepting passive PoE or active 802.3at/af input voltages in the 12–57 V range. Ethernet ports 2 through 5 (Ether2–Ether5) are PoE output-capable, supporting the 802.3af/at standard, which allows the unit to power external devices such as IP cameras, additional access points, or other PoE-compatible equipment. The low-voltage PoE-out current limit is 1 A per port, with a high-voltage limit of 450 mA per port, and a maximum combined output of 2 A. Maximum total power consumption is 66 W (18 W without attached PoE devices).

Processing & Software

The unit is powered by a QCA9557 processor running at 720 MHz on the MIPSBE architecture, paired with 128 MB of RAM and 16 MB of FLASH storage. Switching is handled by the QCA8337 switch chip. The OmniTIK 5 PoE ac ships with MikroTik RouterOS pre-installed and licensed — no separate purchase is required. RouterOS provides a comprehensive feature set including routing, bridging, firewall, QoS, VPN, and wireless management, all manageable via WinBox, WebFig, or CLI.

Peripherals & Monitoring

The device includes a USB Type-A port with USB Power Reset support, providing flexibility for attaching USB storage or modems. On-board diagnostics include a PCB temperature monitor, voltage monitor, and a beeper — useful for alerts and physical identification during installation.

Build & Installation

The OmniTIK 5 PoE ac is housed in an IP54-rated enclosure measuring 416 × 129 × 58 mm, designed to withstand outdoor conditions across a tested ambient temperature range of -40°C to 70°C. The package includes a pole mounting bracket, metal ring, Gigabit PoE injector, IEC power cord, and a 28V 2.57A power adapter — everything needed for a straightforward outdoor pole installation. Passive cooling keeps the unit maintenance-free.

Use Cases

The OmniTIK 5 PoE ac is ideal for outdoor hotspot deployments, ISP last-mile distribution points, campus or industrial wireless networks, and any installation where a single unit needs to provide both wireless access and PoE power delivery to nearby client devices.

General information

All students who attend the Training can receive a free L4 license from MikroTik. Training should be at least three days long.

Students are allowed to take the certification test ONLY upon the attendance of individual training course, in the class, under the supervision of a MikroTik Certified Training Partner.

Each certification test consists of a pre-defined % of random questions (multiple choice and true/false) from specific question categories. Items also have a difficulty parameter. MTCNA test is generated from more straightforward questions, Advanced tests – from more difficult questions.

Only one attempt is allowed. The test must be finished within one hour. The passing grade is set to 60%. There are 25 questions in the exam.

Certificate numbers and RouterOS L4 licenses are assigned automatically by MikroTik. Students can see their certificates and generate license keys once logged into the account server. Printed documents from MikroTik cost USD 30 per piece. Shipping is not included.
