MikroTik RB750UPr2 hEX PoE lite 5-Port 10/100 4x PoE-Out USB Router

The MikroTik hEX PoE lite (RB750UPr2) is a compact, affordable five-port Fast Ethernet router designed for SOHO environments where simplicity, PoE output, and a small footprint are the priority. Built around the QCA9531 single-core MIPSBE CPU at 650MHz with 64MB of RAM, it handles RouterOS L4 features including routing, firewalling, NAT, and traffic management in a clean plastic desktop enclosure. Ports 2–5 deliver passive PoE output at the same voltage applied to the unit, allowing it to power compatible wireless access points, IP cameras, or small CPEs directly — at up to 1A per port and 2A total — without the need for separate injectors. A USB 2.0 Type-A port with power reset adds support for USB modems or storage devices.

The hEX PoE lite is powered by the Qualcomm Atheros QCA9531 single-core MIPSBE CPU running at 650MHz. Notably, this chip also serves as the switch chip, handling both routing and Layer 2 Ethernet switching functions in one. The unit carries 64MB of RAM and 16MB of FLASH storage for the RouterOS operating system. While it is an entry-level router in terms of raw throughput, the 650MHz CPU is fully capable of running the complete RouterOS L4 feature set for typical SOHO routing, NAT, and firewall workloads.

Five-Port Fast Ethernet with Passive PoE Output

The hEX PoE lite provides five 10/100 Mbps shielded Ethernet ports. Ports 2 through 5 support passive PoE output, passing through the same voltage that is applied to the unit over the data lines. This allows the router to directly power up to four passive PoE-compatible devices — such as wireless access points, IP cameras, or small outdoor CPEs — eliminating the need for separate PoE injectors. The per-port current limit is 1A, with a maximum combined PoE-out output of 2A across all active PoE ports. Maximum total power consumption under full PoE load is 51W; the router itself consumes just 3W without any connected PoE devices.

USB Port

A USB 2.0 Type-A port with USB Power Reset support provides connectivity for USB 3G/4G modems (useful for WAN failover or as a primary internet connection), USB storage devices for file hosting or RouterOS logging, or other compatible USB peripherals. The port supports up to 1A of output current.

Powering Options

The hEX PoE lite accepts power through two inputs: a DC jack (8–30V) and passive PoE-in on Ether1 (8–30V), providing flexibility for standard power adapter use or passive PoE-in from an upstream device. A 24V 2.5A power adapter and an IEC cord are included. Cooling is fully passive, making the unit completely silent.

Monitoring

The unit includes a current monitor, PCB temperature monitor, and voltage monitor, providing hardware health data accessible through RouterOS.

Software

The hEX PoE lite runs RouterOS with a Level 4 licence, pre-installed and licenced with no additional purchase required. RouterOS L4 covers advanced routing, firewall, NAT, VPN, QoS, and bandwidth management — well suited to the demands of SOHO and small commercial environments.

Build and Suitability

Housed in a compact plastic desktop enclosure measuring 113 × 89 × 28mm, the hEX PoE lite has an IP20 rating appropriate for standard indoor use. Its tested operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C and an MTBF of approximately 100,000 hours at 25°C make it reliable for long-term deployment in office, retail, and home network settings.

Use Cases

The hEX PoE lite is well suited to small offices, retail locations, and home networks needing a simple wired router with integrated passive PoE output for access points or cameras, cost-conscious deployments where a capable RouterOS router is needed without a high budget, and installations where a compact, silent, fanless unit is preferred in a neat SOHO environment.

General information

All students who attend the Training can receive a free L4 license from MikroTik. Training should be at least three days long.

Students are allowed to take the certification test ONLY upon the attendance of individual training course, in the class, under the supervision of a MikroTik Certified Training Partner.

Each certification test consists of a pre-defined % of random questions (multiple choice and true/false) from specific question categories. Items also have a difficulty parameter. MTCNA test is generated from more straightforward questions, Advanced tests – from more difficult questions.

Only one attempt is allowed. The test must be finished within one hour. The passing grade is set to 60%. There are 25 questions in the exam.

Certificate numbers and RouterOS L4 licenses are assigned automatically by MikroTik. Students can see their certificates and generate license keys once logged into the account server. Printed documents from MikroTik cost USD 30 per piece. Shipping is not included.

Remote training sessions and certification exams are not allowed.

MikroTik Certification Test without prior attendance of particular MikroTik Training Session is not allowed.
